These tops weigh more than ten lbs each and can spin for upwards of fifteen minutes. Every piece of the assembly was hand turned on a metal or wood lathe. They are started using a custom milled and welded spade bit attached to a power drill.
Power drill bit for starting battle tops. The flat side of curve locks against the turning bar installed in the top of the spinner and rotates with accordance to power drill speed. When the drill stops spinning, the momentum of the top’s bar hits the counter ramp, and the top releases itself from the bit to spin freely on the floor.
